Bentonite Grinding and Processing

Bentonite is a non-metallic ore with excellent water absorption, adhesion, adsorption, lubricity, thixotropy, and plasticity. The purpose of bentonite grinding processing is to obtain bentonite powder with a specific particle size distribution. These powder products are widely used in petroleum, food, daily chemicals, and other fields. The processing process requires professional equipment and process control to ensure product quality and performance.

Processing scheme

  • Large pieces of bentonite are usually crushed using a jaw crusher or hammer crusher, and the grinding particle size of general materials is required to be controlled within 2 cm. The crushed bentonite needs to be dried to facilitate the subsequent grinding process.
  • The crushed bentonite is evenly fed into the mill and is gradually ground under the action of the grinding rollers. In this process, the rotational speed of the mill and the distance between the grinding rollers need to be adjusted appropriately to control the particle size of the material.
  • Bentonite powder is passed through a classifier for grading. Hot air is introduced to dry the ground bentonite and help blow the powder into the classifier for classification. Powder of acceptable fineness passes through the classifier, while unqualified material is returned for regrinding.
  • The qualified bentonite powder will enter the pulse dust collector or cyclone collector to achieve material and gas separation. The collected materials are sent to the next process through the unloading valve, while the excess airflow is discharged into the atmosphere after being cleaned by pulse dust removal.
