Dry ball mill is a special type of ball mill that completes material crushing and grinding in a fully dry state, without any liquid medium such as water during the whole production process. It is developed and upgraded by Mascot’s professional R&D team on the basis of traditional ball mill technology, aiming to solve the processing demands of materials sensitive to moisture and products requiring pure dry powder. The whole set of dry ball mill production line is composed of feeding system, main grinding body, transmission system, air classification system and dust collection system, realizing fully enclosed automatic operation.

The working process of the dry ball mill is clear and efficient. Raw materials are evenly sent into the grinding cylinder through the vibrating feeder and bucket elevator. When the cylinder rotates at a stable speed, the steel balls inside are lifted to a certain height under centrifugal force, then fall freely to produce strong impact force. Meanwhile, the friction and shearing force between steel balls and materials further refine the particles. Qualified fine powder is taken out by the airflow of the air separation system, while coarse materials fall back to the grinding area for re-grinding. The matched high-efficiency dust collector collects floating dust in the pipeline to ensure zero dust leakage and meet international environmental protection standards. This integrated design greatly improves the overall grinding efficiency of the dry ball mill and simplifies the production process.

We take a mineral processing project of a mining enterprise in South Africa as a typical case. The customer originally used traditional wet grinding equipment. FAQ 1: What materials are not suitable for processing with dry ball mill?

Answer: Dry ball mill is not suitable for materials with excessive moisture (raw material moisture higher than 10%) and strong viscosity. Too wet materials will stick to the cylinder wall and steel balls, causing blockage and reducing grinding efficiency. For viscous and high-moisture materials, it is recommended to choose a wet ball mill or add a drying device before feeding. In addition, materials that are easy to oxidize at high temperature need to be equipped with a cooling system when using a dry ball mill.

FAQ 2: Why does the dry ball mill have low output during operation? How to solve it?

Answer: The main reasons for low output include uneven feeding, serious wear of steel balls and lining plates, abnormal wind volume of the air classification system, and blocked pipeline dust. Solutions: First, adjust the vibrating feeder to ensure uniform feeding; regularly check and replace worn steel balls and lining plates; inspect the fan and air duct of the classification system to remove blockages; clean the dust collector regularly to keep the air circulation smooth.
